OUR HISTORY
Colourful Collective Travel was founded by Brett Eldershaw, a passionate traveller who, after exploring the world, returned home to Australia with a mission: to make the beauty of New South Wales accessible to everyone.
Brett launched Colourful Trips in the early 1990s, creating affordable, fun, and educational day trips from Sydney for international students and backpackers. The tours focused on iconic destinations like the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, and Port Stephens, providing real, local experiences outside the city.
Over the next three decades, Colourful Trips became one of the most trusted names in NSW tourism, adapting to changing traveller needs while staying committed to quality, safety, and connection.

Brett’s deep respect for nature and the environment led him to a bold commitment: to make the company 100% carbon neutral. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do – from our operational practices to the destinations we support.

ZEPHER TOURS JOINS THE JOURNEY
In 2019, Brett expanded the business by acquiring Zepher Tours, a boutique operator known for its premium Hunter Valley wine tours and small-group travel experiences. Zepher aligned perfectly with the business’s values but allowed us to evolve into a higher-value market and serve a wider range of customers – from students and solo travellers to couples, families, and corporate groups.

To bring everything together, we launched Colourful Collective Travel – an umbrella brand that combines the legacy of Colourful Trips and Zepher Tours into a single, easy-to-use platform.
