What types of tours does Colourful Collective Travel offer? Colourful Collective Travel offers two types of experiences: small-group day tours from Sydney, and private exclusive tours for groups of any size. Small-group day tours run to destinations including the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Jervis Bay, Canberra, and Sydney itself. Private tours cover all of these destinations plus Port Stephens, Mudgee & Orange, Bathurst, and the Southern Highlands, with fully customised itineraries built around your group. Day tours start from A$40 per person; private tours are priced on enquiry.
How do I book a tour with Colourful Collective Travel? All small-group day tours can be booked online through the booking system on each tour page – simply select your preferred date, ticket type, and number of guests, and follow the prompts. For private tour enquiries, visit the Private Tours page and use the enquiry form on your chosen destination page, or contact us directly by phone on +61 2 9318 0853 or email at [email protected]. We respond to all private tour enquiries within 24 hours.
What is the difference between a Saver and Flexible ticket? The Saver ticket is the lower-priced option and is non-refundable. A date change fee of A$40 per person applies if you need to move your booking. The Flexible ticket costs a little more but is fully refundable up to 24 hours before your tour departure, with no fee for date changes. If there’s any chance your plans might change, the Flexible ticket gives you complete peace of mind.
Do I need to print my booking confirmation? No – a digital confirmation on your phone is perfectly fine. Your guide will have a passenger list for the day. If you have any concerns about your booking, contact us before your tour date.
How far in advance should I book? We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for weekend departures, public holidays, and the peak summer season from December to February. Popular tours – especially Hunter Valley wine tours on Saturdays – regularly sell out weeks in advance. That said, last-minute availability does sometimes exist, so it’s always worth checking online or contacting us directly.
Can I book for a large group on a small-group day tour? Small-group day tours are capped at 14–15 guests across the whole vehicle, so if your group is larger than 6–8 people you may wish to consider a private tour instead, which gives your group the entire vehicle exclusively. Contact us to discuss the best option for your group size.
Do you offer gift cards? Yes – Colourful Collective Travel gift cards are available to purchase online and can be used toward any day tour or private tour experience. They make a wonderful gift for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, and other special occasions. Gift cards are available in any denomination.
Is there a minimum age for your tours? Minimum ages vary by tour. Most day tours welcome guests aged 6 and over. The Hunter Valley wine tour is for adults aged 18 and over due to the alcohol tasting focus. The Rocks Walking Tour welcomes children of all ages. Age requirements are listed on each individual tour page – please check before booking.

Where do I get picked up from in Sydney? There are three central Sydney pick-up points. We have included detailed information about the pick up locations with images below. Your booking confirmation will specify your pick-up location and exact time for your chosen tour. For private tours, we can pick up from a location that suits your group.
What time does pick-up happen? Pick-up times vary by tour and pick-up location. Exact pick-up times are confirmed in your booking confirmation. Please be at your pick-up point 10 minutes before your scheduled time.
Is there parking near the Sydney pick-up points? Both Sydney pick-up points are in the CBD where street parking is limited and metered. We strongly recommend arriving by public transport. Central Station, Sydney Town Hall and Circular Quay are all major public transport hubs with direct access by train, bus, light rail, and ferry.
Can you pick me up from my hotel? Hotel pick-ups are not available on small-group day tours due to the fixed route and timing. Both Sydney pick-up points are centrally located and easily reached from most CBD and inner-city hotels by foot, taxi, or rideshare in under 15 minutes. For private tours, we can arrange pick-up from your hotel or any location that suits your group.
What if I am running late to my pick-up point? Please contact us immediately if you are running late – our phone number is on your booking confirmation. Unfortunately our vehicles must depart on time to maintain the day’s schedule and cannot wait for late arrivals. If you miss your departure, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to assist, though we cannot guarantee an alternative arrangement on the same day.
Do you pick up from the Hunter Valley for wine tours? Yes – for guests already staying in the Hunter Valley, we offer pick-ups from several accommodation locations including Cessnock Aldi, Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, Cypress Lakes Resort by Oaks, Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens, voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley, and Spicer’s Guesthouse. These pick-up points are available on Hunter Valley tours. Check your tour page or contact us to confirm availability.
Where will I be dropped off at the end of the tour? All small-group day tours return to the Sydney pick-up points – Near Central, Town Hall and Circular Quay. Drop-off times are approximate and can vary slightly depending on traffic. Your guide will keep you updated throughout the day. For private tours, we can drop your group off at any agreed location within the quoted itinerary.

What payment methods do you accept? All major credit and debit cards are accepted through the online booking system, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Payment is processed securely at the time of booking.
Can I get a refund if I cancel my booking? Refund eligibility depends on your ticket type. Flexible tickets are fully refundable up to 24 hours before your tour departure – simply contact us or manage your booking online. Saver tickets are non-refundable. If you need to change the date on a Saver ticket, a fee of A$40 per person applies. We strongly recommend the Flexible ticket if there’s any chance your plans might change.
What happens if Colourful Collective Travel cancels a tour? In the rare event that we need to cancel a tour – due to unsafe weather conditions or circumstances beyond our control – you will be notified as early as possible and offered either a full refund or a transfer to an alternative date at no additional cost. We take cancellations seriously and will always communicate clearly and promptly.
What happens if the weather is bad on my tour day? Our tours operate in most weather conditions – the Blue Mountains in the mist, the Hunter Valley after rain, and the South Coast in light showers are all genuinely beautiful experiences. We only cancel tours in conditions that are unsafe for travel or would significantly compromise the experience. If weather causes a cancellation, you will be offered a full refund or rebooking. If you’re unsure about conditions on your day, contact us and we’ll give you an honest assessment.
Do you offer corporate invoicing for group bookings? Yes – we can arrange invoicing for corporate and business bookings. Please contact us directly at [email protected] to discuss your requirements before booking online.

How big are your tour groups? Our small-group day tours are capped at a maximum of 20 guests per vehicle, keeping the experience intimate, social, and personal. You’ll hear everything your guide says, can ask questions freely, and won’t feel like you’re part of a large crowd. Private tours give your group exclusive use of the vehicle with no other passengers.
What should I bring on a day tour? We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, comfortable walking shoes, and a light jacket or layer – the Blue Mountains and Canberra in particular can be significantly cooler than Sydney. A fully charged phone or camera for photos is essential. Cash or card for personal purchases such as lunch (where not included), souvenirs, and optional extras.
What should I wear? Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended for all tours. Dress in layers — NSW regional temperatures can vary significantly from Sydney, and weather in the mountains and on the coast can change quickly. In summer, prioritise sun protection. In winter, pack warm layers and a waterproof jacket. Specific packing recommendations for each tour are included on the individual tour pages.
Is lunch included in my tour? Lunch inclusion varies by tour. The Blue Mountains All Inclusive Signature Day Tour includes a sit-down lunch at Scenic World. Hunter Valley premium wine tours include a two-course lunch. Most other day tours do not include lunch – you’ll have free time at a town or village to explore cafes and restaurants at your own expense. Check the inclusions on your specific tour page for confirmation.
Can I bring alcohol on the tour vehicle? We ask that guests do not drink alcohol onto the tour vehicle. All wine tasting and alcohol consumption is managed as part of the tour experience at licensed venues. This is for the comfort and safety of all guests.
Is smoking permitted on tours? Smoking and vaping are not permitted on our vehicles. Opportunities to smoke are available during scheduled stops.
Can I use my phone or take photos throughout the tour? Absolutely – photography is encouraged throughout all tours. Your guide will point out the best photo locations and can often assist with group shots. Please be mindful of respectful photography at cultural sites and when around wildlife.
Will there be toilet stops during the tour? Yes – all tours include regular comfort stops at appropriate facilities. If you need an unscheduled stop, please let your guide know and they will accommodate you as soon as practically possible.
-
Can you cater for dietary requirements? Yes – we cater for a wide range of dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, Halal, dairy-free, and nut allergies. Please advise your dietary requirements at the time of booking or as soon as possible before your tour so we can ensure all meals and tasting experiences are appropriate for you. The more notice you give us, the better we can look after you.
Are your tours suitable for guests with limited mobility? This varies by tour. The Blue Mountains All Inclusive Signature Day Tour is the most accessible option, as the main Scenic World experiences are ride-based with even, well-maintained surfaces. The Blue Mountains Wildlife, Waterfalls & Walks tour involves longer bushwalks on uneven terrain and is not recommended for guests with significant mobility limitations. The Rocks Walking Tour covers cobblestone surfaces but is otherwise flat. Please contact us before booking to discuss your specific requirements and we’ll recommend the most suitable tour and confirm what can be accommodated.
Are your tours wheelchair accessible? Our vehicles are not currently fitted with wheelchair ramps. Guests who can transfer from a wheelchair and fold it for storage may be able to join certain tours – please contact us before booking to discuss your situation so we can advise honestly on what’s possible.
Do you offer tours in languages other than English? Our tours are conducted in English. If you are travelling with a non-English speaking group, please contact us to discuss options – we may be able to connect you with a bilingual guide depending on the language and tour date.

What is a private tour and how is it different from a small-group day tour? A private tour gives your group exclusive use of the vehicle – no other passengers, no shared commentary directed at strangers, and no fixed itinerary you have to fit around. The day is built entirely around your group’s interests, pace, and occasion. Private tours are available to every destination we visit on our small-group day tours, plus additional destinations including Mudgee & Orange, Bathurst, and the Southern Highlands. They’re ideal for corporate groups, celebrations, families, couples, and anyone who wants a truly personalised experience.
How much does a private tour cost? Private tour pricing depends on your group size, chosen destination, itinerary inclusions, and date. We provide a detailed, transparent quote with no hidden costs as part of your personalised proposal – typically within 24 hours of your enquiry. Contact us via the Private Tours page to get started.
What is the minimum group size for a private tour? We welcome private bookings from as few as 2 guests – couples and small groups of friends are some of our most popular private tour clients. There is no minimum group size.
Can we customise the itinerary on a private tour? Absolutely – customisation is the core of the private tour experience. You choose the destinations, the pace, the stops, and the focus of the day. Our team works with you to design an itinerary that’s exactly right for your group, and we’re happy to refine it until you’re completely satisfied before confirming.
How do I enquire about a private tour? Visit the Private Tours page on our website, choose your preferred destination, and complete the enquiry form. Alternatively, call us on +61 2 9318 0853 or email [email protected]. Please include your preferred occasion, destination, group size, and date — the more detail you give us, the more tailored your proposal will be.

Are your tours carbon neutral? Yes – every tour run by Colourful Collective Travel is 100% carbon neutral, certified to national sustainability accreditation standards. We actively offset the carbon emissions generated by every journey, meaning your travel with us supports environmental responsibility rather than working against it. This applies to both small-group day tours and private tours.
Do your tours support local businesses? Yes – supporting local, independent, and family-owned businesses is central to how we design our tour itineraries. From boutique cellar doors in the Hunter Valley to locally owned cafes in Katoomba and Jervis Bay, we deliberately choose venues and experiences that keep tourism dollars in the communities we visit.
Do you have a position on responsible wildlife tourism? We take animal welfare seriously. Wildlife encounters on our tours – primarily at Featherdale Wildlife Park & Symbio Wildlife Park – are conducted at a reputable, accredited facility committed to the welfare of its animals and the conservation of Australian native species. We do not support or include any experiences that exploit or mistreat animals.

Who are the guides at Colourful Collective Travel? Our guides are professional, experienced, and genuinely passionate about the destinations they share. Many are nationally accredited through the Institute of Australian Tour Guides (IATG) — Australia’s peak professional tour guiding association. They’re known for warm, witty storytelling, in-depth local knowledge, and an ability to make every guest feel personally looked after. Fan favourites including Guil, Ronnie, and Arana have been mentioned by name in hundreds of five-star reviews from guests across more than 40 countries.
Why should I choose Colourful Collective Travel over other Sydney tour operators? There are a few things that genuinely set us apart. Our groups are small – always – which means you get a personal experience, not a coach tour. Our guides are exceptional storytellers, not just drivers with a microphone. We’re 100% carbon neutral, we support local businesses, and we’re nationally accredited. We’ve been doing this for years and have thousands of five-star reviews on TripAdvisor and Google from guests who came as strangers and left as friends. We also offer the most flexible private tour program in NSW – from couples to corporate groups of 50+.
How do I leave a review after my tour? We’d love to hear about your experience – and honest reviews genuinely help other travellers decide to join us. You can leave a review on Google, TripAdvisor, or Facebook. If you had a great day, please mention your guide by name – they love to hear it, and it helps us celebrate the team members who make the biggest difference.
How do I contact Colourful Collective Travel? You can reach us by phone on +61 2 9318 0853, by email at [email protected], or via the Contact page on our website. We’re also active on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. For private tour enquiries, the quickest path is the enquiry form on the Private Tours page – we respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.
